Born in the decade of rock and grunge, when music made in the USA and England invaded our country and was consumed in large doses, Blind Zero were formed in 1994 and, a year later, released their first EP , “Recognize”, which sold out in just nine days and is now a collectible. This was followed by the first feature film, “Trigger”, which rocked the Portuguese music scene and became the first rock album sung in English by a national band to reach the Golden Disc award.
In 1996 the group released, in partnership with Mind Da Gap, the EP “Flexogravity”, an experimental and fusion album, surprising and innovative. Months later, they participated in SCYPE (Song Contest for Youth Programs in Europe), a festival that brings together bands from all over the European continent, with an original theme, “My House”, which won the contest winners.
Two years after the edition of the first album, Blind Zero edited “Redcoast” which, for many, goes beyond rock mixing environments, sounds and emotions. In 2000 they recorded “One Silent Accident” that preceded the inclusion of David Bowie's original version, “Heroes”, on the album “Mundial 2002”.
“A Way to Bleed your Lover” (2003) has the participation of Jorge Palma and Dana Colley (Twinemen / ex-Morphine) and reflects a new imaginary, attitude and a huge step forward in the group's career. In such a way that they were invited by MTV to make, in Milan, an “MTV Live”, the first recorded by a Portuguese group and, until today, the only DVD of the group. The broadcast of this concert had opening honors in the presentation of MTV Portugal. At the end of that year, at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2003 award ceremony, held in Edinburgh, Blind Zero won the Best Portuguese Act category. It was the first time that MTV awarded a prize to a Portuguese band. Also in December, “A Way to Bleed your Lover” was considered one of the best albums of the year by the specialized press and Blind Zero were elected the best live band of the year.
In 2005 the group edited “The Night Before And A New Day” which carries an undisguised shine. It preserves remnants of the relational intensity and the psychological precipice of other eras, but points the way to redemption, freedom, light.
The second version that Blind Zero recorded is “Drive”, by The Cars, before “Time Machine (Memories Undone) - Live Best of Unplugged” (2007), the first acoustic album that reviews the group's career.
In 2009 “Slow Time Love”, the lead single from “Luna Park” is released and in March 2010, “Snow Girl”, which anticipates the edition, in May, of the sixth album of originals. Themes that were airplay on the radio for months at a time.
Recognized for their boldness and sense of direction, Blind Zero is always available for a good challenge. Remember the way they celebrated 13 years of career, touring the cities of Porto, Coimbra and Lisbon on a bus, having performed 13 concerts. Or more recently, last Christmas, the concert that was suspended in the air, in downtown Porto.
Celebrating an 18-year career in 2012, the group released the first breakthrough single from “Kill Drama”, “I See Desire”, which in the first week it was available for download occupied 3rd place among the songs Portuguese most downloaded, and the 25th in the top 100 overall of Nielsen Music & Soundscan International.
Edited at the end of April 2013, "Kill Drama" the most Portuguese album by Blind Zero, a kind of statement where introspection gives way to reality. "Down To The Wolves" is the second single taken from the new album and succeeds "I See Desire" on the playlists of national radio stations. These are just two of the eleven themes that make up Blind Zero's new album, an “open work” to which the musicians invited 150 fans to record the choirs for “Secret Places”, “People That Hate People” and “Break The Union ”.
Recorded at the Blackfox studio by producer Nuxo Espinheira, “Kill Drama” reflects the emotion, spontaneity and electricity of a concert. Edited by Red Lemon Music - the label created by the group and through which they also released “Luna Park” - the new work includes the participation of Bruno Macedo, on guitar, and Miguel Ferreira, on keyboards. A Rock album as the group did not record for many years.
One day after the edition of “Kill Drama”, the band will present live the successor of “Luna Park” at Hard Club, on April 30, marking the return of Blind Zero to the great concerts in Porto and that Porto venue, where played two and a half years ago when it opened.
