Mundo Cão is a Portuguese alternative rock band.
Pedro Laginha was already doing amateur theater when his grandfather offered him guitar lessons and he realized that he also knew how to sing. He was in punk, gothic bands and played covers and made the circuits of bars. Apart from The Spleen, they were always on the first model. He appeared as an actor on the teledisco of "Cão da Morte" by Mão Morta and took the opportunity to show a model of the band Miguel Pedro who volunteered to be the producer. As the band was over, Miguel Pedro then made an invitation to start a band and thus Mundo Mundo was born.
The band was initially composed by Pedro Laginha on vocals, Miguel Pedro on drums, Vasco Vaz on guitar, Duarte Nuno on bass and Gonçalo Budda on guitar. Some of the musicians belong to Mão Morta and other well-known bands.
The well-known musician Adolfo Luxúria Canibal, colleague of Miguel Pedro and Vasco Vaz in Mão Morta, was the author of the name of the band and of the lyrics of the debut album recorded in 2007 for the publisher Som Livre. The group performs more than 30 concerts and wins the Golden Globe for best new band.
Mundo Cão's first album had singles such as "O Caixão da Razão" and "Morfina" and was one of the favorite albums of readers of BLITZ magazine in 2007.
The album "A Geração da Matilha" was released in 2009. The disc features lyrics by Adolfo and the writer Valter Hugo Mãe.
The video for "Ordena Que Te Ame", the first single, was directed by Carlos Conceição and produced by Uzi Filmes.
The group was one of the two bands that performed the first part of the AC / DC concert, on June 3, 2009, in Lisbon.
The album "O Jogo do Mundo" was published in 2013. The writer José Luís Peixoto was a novelty that joined the usual lyricists.
In 2015, they suspended their activity indefinitely but in 2016 they were renewed with Pedro Laginha (voice), Miguel Pedro (drums), Vasco Vaz (guitar), Frederico Cristiano (keyboard) and Canoche (bass) .
"Paixão Malsã", by Miguel Pedro and Adolfo Luxúria Canibal, was the theme that marked the band's return. This new song is a first sample of the new album whose motto will be vagrancy and debauchery.
The album "Disconnected", published in 2018, includes lyrics by Adolfo Luxúria Canibal, Valter Hugo Mãe and for the first time by Carlos Conceição who had already made music videos for the band. The album was presented by the single "It is always this bullshit of eternal love that sands me". The album reached the top 30 of the national top.
