In June 2014 the band "The Unknown" was founded more than spontaneously on a photographer event in Saarbrücken. Despite previous acquaintance, the three band members Jan Schäfer, Oliver Thom and Lavina Lane only found out about their common musical interests on this day. The first songs were written and set to music within a few months. It quickly became clear that the band was on a level in terms of skills and motivation.
In September 2014 the first appearance as an opener of the dance ritual festival in Bexbach followed. Here, the Saarland black scene witnessed for the first time a dark live show with black music, powerful female vocals and two creepy, doll-like dancers. Since then, they have been part of the live performances since the beginning.
Musically, The Unknown are located in the area of Industrial Gothic Rock. Due to the various musical influences of the band members, the debut single “Neverland” created an unmistakable, new sound that balances synths, guitar boards and hymn songs. Some songs offer trips to EBM, Classic Rock and Symphonic Metal.
Since all band members are professionally or privately photographic and artistically active, they attach great importance to a complex audiovisual overall concept. Photographs, videos and the album “Neverland”, which was released in August 2015, could therefore be designed independently. With the help of a sales contract from keyboardist Oliver Thom, the first album was produced.
The first album “Neverland” is modeled musically, visually and in terms of content on a morbid yet playful fantasy world. The individual songs are arranged chronologically.
