I found the first (oldest) EP's and demo unremarkable, and will not be counting those when I apply a rating.
But in 2023 they really came together. With that large gap in time, are they even the same group? Don't know, but 2023+ is quite good --- lively, epic, patriotic sort of music --- off to battle! And the theme of many tracks aligns with this sound.
I haven't yet heard the newest album, so I'll write something later. Still more to enjoy!
And before I neglect to mention it...
... more really cool artwork to be had on these albums.
2024 ... Wow, quite a different overall sound, with the war theme still present, but a collage of genres, ranging from folky evening drinking music to blackened death metal sort of music. A lot of heaviness is added in this album; while some tracks are not heavy, the heavy ones are very much so. It is lively, inspiring, melancholic, sometimes sombre music. I enjoy the energy of it, but also want to sit back and go off on a sad lonely journey of imagination...
2025 ... stay tuned, I'm getting there.
2025 ... Awakened again by the air-raid siren, bombs falling, war on the cover. ...
... and folk music Direktiva 25, accompanies the explosions and screaming. ...
This Croatian music is not average melodic black metal. This album is a cinematic performance for the ears. It takes you there... There's a story, and you're in it; not merely songs on an album but chapters in a book, several quite long; the musicians are like war correspondents. Elements of many genres are incorporated, the track arrangements are complex, often starting peacefully, then ramping up the intensity... Excellent compositional work. This album and the previous are quite emotional.
For 2023+, something like 9.5 / 10. Great, fanthrax -- interesting & enjoyable.
