Motorhead.

History:
The time is the late seventies – punk was dying out after its 15 minutes of fame and Rock was coming back with a vengeance - The second wave of UK rockers were about to be unleashed upon the world (the first being Sabbath,Purple,Zep et al) - Bands like Judas Priest,Scorpions,UFO,and Rush were about to take the world by storm – but in the background, based in Bolton in England’s gritty Nort West was a set of young lads learning their trade and about to form a band based on the finest traditions of UK Rock (long hair and loud music)
Featured in the band were -
Grame Wyatt – Vocals
Mike Rabbitt – Guitars
Phil Loftus – Guitars
Phil Gavin – Bass
Sam Hall – Drums
The first gig was in a small youth club in Breightmet in 1979 and was the start of many around the North West over the next decade or so …
Songs in the set were mainly AC/DC,Saxon,Scorpions and also a couple that were being written by the band themselves ….
During the early 80’s a few changes occurred – Phil Loftus left the band and was soon followed by singer Graeme and drummer Sam mainly due to the fact that Wolfpack were heading into a more thrashy direction (bands like Metallica/Slayer were about to hit the big time) which left the band as a 3-piece (including new signing the incomparable CRUM on drums)
The line up was now stabilised and an album ‘Total Head Removal’ was released in the Autumn of 1986 – the band failed to obtain a second album deal and faded into oblivion in the late 80’s ….
UNTIL NOW ….. Like the oft-regailed Phoenix – Wolfpack have risen from the ashes – initially as a one-off reunion gig at the end of 2006 but now on a more permanent basis …..
New vocalist and old mate Nidge Roberts has joined due to Graeme Wyatt’s commitments elsewhere and the the drum stool is now occupied by monster tub-thumper Andy Anderson (ex Mad Racket , Loose Covers , Kyte and Peruvian Drumstix !)
The future looks good for the new-look Wolfpack – rehearsal are almost complete and the gig-diary is filling as we speak …..
If you want an excellent night’s entertainment (and are sick of hearing Smoke on the Water , Freebird, Paranoid etc) then try and the band who are covering traditional bands (but not the same old songs)
Speak soon
