Коллектив Mutilator считается одним из самых ярких представителей бразильской метал-сцены 80-х годов наряду с Sepultura, Sarcofago, Holocausto и др. Группа начала свою разрушительную деятельность в 1985 году под названием Desaster, впрочем, коллектив уже в скором времени был переименован в Mutilator. В 1986 году ребята записывают два демо - "Bloodstorm" и "Grave Desecration", в том же году выходит сплит "Warfare Noise I" с Chakal, Sarcofago и Holocausto.

В 1987 увидел свет дебютный диск бразильцев, "Immortal Force", представлявший собой угарный Death/Thrash Metal со значительным влиянием Slayer, Possessed и Bathory.

В 1988 году, уже в обновленном составе, группа записала свой второй по счету альбом, "Into the Strange", на котором был сделан значительный уклон в сторону трэш-метала, музыка коллектива стала более мелодичной, на диске присутствовали две инструментальные композиции.

Коллектив распался в 1989 или 1990 году из-за ухода "Magoo" - основного композитора группы, позднее он сформировал другую группу - Chemako.

Спустя некоторое время Mutilator пытались воссоединиться, но со смертью в 1997 году главного идейного вдохновителя коллектива - Alexander "Magoo", это стало уже невозможным...

Mutilator was one of the most representative bands of the Brazilian Heavy Metal scene in the 80's and 90's. The band released only two LPs, but these two albums are still considered true references for all who listen to heavy music in the world.

The band started out in 1985, using the name Desaster. When Silvio SDN came in, they renamed the band as Mutilator. The first demo was recorded, and it took them to the Warfare Noise I compilation, released in 1986, which also featured the bands Chakal, Sarcofago and Holocausto. This was a very important compilation for the promotion of the Heavy Metal scene of the Brazilian State of Minas Gerais (In Belo Horizonte city), who had already yielded such bands as Sepultura and Overdose.

In 1987, Silvio SDN left the band. The band then recorded its first LP, "Immortal Force", in which they produced a vigorous Death/Thrash Metal, deeply influenced by Slayer, Possessed and Bathory. A very fast "blast-beat" drumming and fast guitar riffing gave to Mutilator a special place in the diversificated brazilian scene. And also showed the world its fury. The album, which is considered a classic release today, has been fully remastered, and contains new artwork and the songs from the band’s first demo, previously released only in the LP Lost Tapes of Cogumelo, in 1990.

In 1988, the band recorded the LP "Into the Strange", with a different line-up, which headed towards the Thrash Metal style. Most worked songs, unplugged moments and two instrumental tracks. Now the band was infinitly superior than a lot of other bands arround the world. Though less known than its predecessor, Into the Strange is an important document when it comes to the evolution of Brazilian heavy metal. Both Mutilator albums serve as strong statements of a style that would be refined in later Brazilian Metal albums, such as Sepultura’s seminal Beneath the Remains.

The band split-up in 1989 or 1990, because of the departure of Magoo ,the main compositor. Magoo formed a new band, called Chemako, with other influences beyond rock and metal.
Magoo unhapply died in 1997, before this tragedy, Mutilator was trying a reunion. His death killed Mutilator too, and "killed" a lot of fans arround the world.
